Most people put the seeds directly into the growbag potting mix. Doing so reduces the germination rate and you will wonder if the seed quality is bad. Here is a better way to treat and plant your seeds.
Put the seeds in a small cup of water for 12 hours. You can do that by evening and it will be ready by next day morning. Drain out the water after 12 hours and transfer the seeds to a tissue paper. Cover the seeds inside the tissue paper and put the tissue paper in a transparent plastic bag. The tissue paper will hold the seeds moist and the plastic bag will keep the seeds humid. After one day you can see many seeds sprouted. Take those sprouted seeds out and put the sprouted part in the soil and cover the seed with soil. Do not put the seed too deep in the soil. Put the seed in a hole just big enough to cover with soil so that when you put water the seed wont come outside the hole.
Keep the seeds which haven’t sprouted yet in the tissue paper inside the plastic bag and add some more water to keep the tissue paper moist. Some seeds likeĀ bottle gourd (lauki), bitter gourd(karela) etc may take upto 7 days to sprout. Every day, transfer the sprouted seeds to the grow bags and leave the un-sprouted ones in the tissue paper itself. If you follow this process, you will have a very good germination rate and most of your seeds will grow into plants.
